With the weather being so pleasant ☀️ this wee With the weather being so pleasant ☀️ this weekend we couldn’t resist the temptation to take our new @shipwreckkayaks out for a spin. (Gifted)
We’ve been on many kayak adventures before with rented kayaks and tour agencies. Now that we finally have our own boat, we have a lot more flexibility about when and where to paddle.
We decided to get a double inflatable drop stitch kayak for many reasons:
- Drop stitch material is very durable. These boats feel a lot like traditional kayaks. They are very efficient on the water.
- Inflatable, so packs down small for easy storage and transport.
- The double kayak can also be used as a single if you place the seat in the middle.

Our first experience was a success. We managed to set the kayak up quickly. We took turns paddling, as we had Peter with us in the pushchair. Once we sort some life jackets out, we can go kayaking all together.

Summer is just around the corner, so now is a great time to think about purchasing your own kayak!

Have you tried kayaking before? How did you like it?

We spent 58 hours outside with Peter in April. A b We spent 58 hours outside with Peter in April. A big chunk of it was during our camping trip to Durdle Door. 🏕️ We spent 2 nights there and had a great time.
Can’t wait for our next camping adventure. Yay for all the bank holidays in May. 😃

For Earth Day I thought I would share some ways th For Earth Day I thought I would share some ways that I try and be a more eco conscious parent. 🌎

1. I love our colourful reusable nappy stash. Peter’s been in them since he was a newborn baby and they worked great for us. Reusable nappy week is just around the corner, so now is a great time to start and invest, as there are lots of info and good deals out there. @thenappygurus and @thenappyladyuk is a good place to start.
(For full disclosure we use disposables when on holiday to make things easier and because we always fly with just a carry on backpack)

2. I don’t drive at all, so any gp appointments, baby clubs, market visits etc are either done by walking or cycling. Now Peter is old enough to go in the bike trailer, which opens up some more possibilities for us. 🚲

3. I try and priorotize experiences over things. I do struggle with this sometimes, especially when I see beautiful play rooms on my Instagram feed.😅 But I am pretty good at refraining myself from buying anything new.

4. I shop second hand when possible. ♻️ Marketplace, Vinted and charity shops are my go to place for pre loved items. I also use our local freecycle group a lot, where I can pick up and give away things for free.
I also tend to priorotize wooden and natural materials over plastic.

5. I have a weekly online grocery shop delivered to our house, but we also visit the market and our local refill shop once a week. This way our fruit and veg 🍎🥕 and many of our dry products and toiletries can be plastic free.

Without doubt there is place for improvement at many aspects in our life. But I love this quote from Anne Marie Bonneau:
“We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.” 💚

I would love to hear how you try and be more eco conscious?

Easter walk in @stowe_nt We recently became Nation Easter walk in @stowe_nt We recently became National Trust members so planning to return regularly and see it in different seasons. We visited it last autumn as well and it was interesting to see how the scenery changed.

They had a lot of activities for kids for the holidays 🐇🐣, which I am sure Peter will enjoy in a few years.

How was your Easter?

We did 34 hours outside in March, which doesn’t We did 34 hours outside in March, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but I only include time for the challange that I spend outside with Peter myself. As we spent 2 weeks with grandparents in Hungary there was a fair bit of time, when they looked after him and we spent time outdoor seperately.

March was a great month though, as we could finally start cycling with Peter. 🚲 He really enioyed the bike trailer. I got the confidence to cycle with him in the UK as well, so there’s been a couple of occasions when I headed out with him by bike in the town.

With the weather starting to warm up, I am eager to give camping a go with Peter. 🏕️
Our eye is on the New Forest, where there are lovely cycle paths and some family friendly camp sites.

During our time in Hungary we visited the Budapest During our time in Hungary we visited the Budapest Light Art Museum @lambudapest

🦽 It was mostly accessible by pram, but to get inside the Zeppelin exhibition we had to carry it up some stairs. As we visited on a weekday it wasn’t busy, so we could do this without too much hassle. But this would not be possible with a wheelchair. There was a lift to access the upstairs exhibition.

🔐 There are lockers for personal belongings.

🚽Toilets on site

💥 The installations were really interesting. I especially enjoyed the interactive ones.

🇭🇺🇬🇧 The descriptions were displayed on a board that switched from Hungarian to English. It’s great they cater for both languages, but I think it could have been improved, as we often had to wait for the language to change which was a bit tedious.

💶 Despite having a good time, I think this experience is a bit overpriced for what it is. 16 € (6000 HUF)/adult
We finished in an hour at a comfortable pace.
